[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]I’ve found that those of us who are pro-life are rarely able to defend our views persuasively, especially when confronted by those who are pro-abortion. Pro-lifers believe that abortion is wrong because it kills a baby, but we can rarely prove that the baby is actually a baby, whose life began from the moment of conception. It’s far too common for those of us who believe abortion is morally wrong to get stuck when confronted by pro-abortion rhetoric. Do you care enough about stopping the horror of abortion to educate yourself so you can be an effective tool against this genocide? I hope so.

I want to review a few pro-abortion arguments and give you the tools and strategies to respond effectively. Lastly, I have attached a link to my most recent presentation on pro-life apologetics and hope it serves as a valuable, educational tool.

Before I describe some scenarios, I want to help simplify the abortion debate so that you, the pro-lifer are able to engage this issue persuasively with a good argument.

Imagine for a second that you are at the kitchen counter, doing dishes, and your toddler (imagine you have a kid for the sake of the argument) walks up behind you, as your back is turned, and says, “Mommy (or Daddy), can I kill this?” What is going to be the first question that escapes your lips in response to the question, “can I kill this?”..? I imagine you would ask, “What is it?” The answer to the question “what is it?” would trump all other considerations at that point. If your toddler merely has a cockroach or a spider, you would probably help him kill it. But what if your toddler was holding the neck of the neighbor kid, or perhaps even his sibling? Your answer would be quite different.

It is the same in the abortion issue. The whole debate boils down to the question, “What is the unborn?” As Greg Koukl says, “If the unborn are not human, then no justification for elective abortion is necessary, but if the unborn are human, then no justification for elective abortion is adequate.” As we look at some pro-abortion arguments, we’ll see how we can bring all objections back to this simple question: “What is the unborn?”

Pro-abort: Abortion is a private matter. It’s the woman’s private decision wether to get an abortion or not.

Pro-lifer: Do we allow women to kill their toddlers as long as they do so in the privacy of their own homes?

Pro-abort: But you’re assuming that the unborn are human!

Pro-lifer: And you’re assuming that the unborn are not human!

As you can see, with the “privacy” argument, the issue really comes back to the question, “What is the unborn?” Let’s look at one more scenario:

Pro-abort: You have no right to force your moral view on women, by saying that they can’t get abortions.

Pro-lifer: Isn’t the mother forcing her moral view on her unborn child?

Pro-abort: But you’re assuming that the unborn is human

Pro-lifer: And you’re assuming that the unborn is not human.

Again, we can see that the issue is not “privacy” or “forcing morality”, but rather, “What is the unborn?” To see how we can answer that question effectively through science and philosophy, listen to this presentation:
